Tutorials for Joomla

Hi everyone,

Managing to get thru the tutorials for Joomla (a friend of mine needs help and I thought it would not hurt to learn more about it) and since I am noticing on alot of job posting Joomla knowledge required as well as Word press etc.

So been talking with some guidance councillors re my job situation and they have been very helpful in guiding me and advising on what I need to do to get into an entry level position. For one be honest and say that is what you want and that you are willing to take the pay. I found that to be the hardest. I do have alot of experience and well most employers think I would be bored or that I am over qualified. But the reality is I am not over qualified when it comes to web design and development. Yes I have been working with the web, FTP and site editors etc. for quite some time but not in the capacity that I am seeking. I really want to work with a team and build websites and maybe eventually with my years of experience and knowledge with television production I can combine the two and help produce dynamic videos for their web sites. A thought for the future. I still have a great deal to learn and accomplish. I am motivated though and I am willing to learn the ropes as they say.

Any words of advice I would appreciate it.

Regards,
j.

Still Looking!

Hi all

Still no job prospects. I just do not get it. I am want to work and I have alot to offer. However, I am networking and talking to agencies. They say it is a catch 22 sort of thing. But all that to say: I want a career change and realize that I will not start at the top of the latter or where I left off in my previous job. I am willing to come in at an entry level but please be realistic: $10 an hour is not going to cut it. I DO HAVE SKILLS! and I am smart and have a great deal to offer a company.

So question is: When is it in your favor to apply so you do not get lost in the loads of emails? Is it best to send your request near the end of the posting so you will be closer to the top of the pile?

Obviously a good cover letter helps and not too big a file for your résumé is a good way to stand out! By the way the correct way to spell RÉSUMÉ is with an accent on both "E's".

Still hoping,
Regards, J.

O.K. What is the deal with a potential employer ask you: Are you close to retirement? Really.
When applying for a job it should be based on skills, qualities and yes of course experience. But just because you have EXTENSIVE experience (over 25 years) does not qualify you as being "close to retitement" really!

What does one have to do when one is yes 50 and well starting over. Laid off, no choice and went back to school...now really full time university intensive program, graduated at the top of her class!! and still no job!

I have transferable skills, I can pretty much walk into to any environment, have introductions and start working! WHY? is this so difficult.

I have plenty of years to devote to a company. I have experience, I have expertise, I have work knowledge, computer savvy, .... I can go on!

So, question is: even though I have sent out alot of résumés and I have registered with Temp agencies and all the other online help and career builders.... WHY? What is going on out there?

Anyone else going thru a career change and finding it difficult? Any advice...something I am missing!

If you are a potential employer, please consider that experience in the work force at any level gives a person great knowledge and work ethics to be a great candidate for your needs.

o.k. I leave with this: Even though 50 is considered old to some people... you have not met me .. and well you would be surprise!!! I bet there are alot of women out there who are magnificant and you would not know they are 50!
